What is an EduProtocol?

EduProtocols are reusable instructional lesson frames that are designed to engage students in learning through critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. While the content of your lessons will change, the workflow of each EduProtocol stays the same, allowing students to understand the process in order to stay focused on the learning of the content.

What is the Frayer Model?

The Frayer Model is a graphic organizer for building student vocabulary. This technique requires students to define target vocabulary and apply their knowledge by generating examples and non-examples, giving characteristics, and/or drawing a picture to illustrate the meaning of the word. This information is placed on a chart that is divided into four sections to provide a visual representation for students.  

The Frayer Model is very useful for vocabulary and concepts. Instead of starting right off with content embedded vocabulary, we recommend starting with Frayer-a-Friend. Students pair up and interview each other about their likes and dislikes, their dream pet, etc. Pairs form quads and the introductions begin. With this one activity, you establish a learning routine, create conversation among students, and begin building relationships.
