Wildcat Teacher Resource Center

Jot Thoughts

Students each have multiple slips of paper or post-its. The teacher selects a topic, sets a time limit, and provides think time (e.g., In three minutes, how many questions could you write that have the answer 17?).

Students write and announce as many ideas as they can in the alotted time, one idea per post-it. Each post-it is placed in the center of the table; students attempt to cover the table (no overalpping slips) by the end of the alotted time.

Variation – Sort by Category

Groups sort their responses into categories and generate a list of categories to be shared with the class. Categories can also be ranked by importance or some other criteria before sharing.
